National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute)
By studying in Russia, I learnt to accomplish the desired result
I chose MEPhI spontaneously. One of my friends was from a MEPhI dynasty – all of his family had graduated from MEPhI, and he went to submit his application for the Department of Automation (his family’s traditional department) and offered to tag along. I still had a last set of application forms I could submit to one more university. My selection of choice, at that time, was the History of Art at Moscow State University (MSU) but I received a federal scholarship only for part-time enrolment there, and I decided that I would decline that option and opt to study at a nuclear university instead. I have never regretted that decision!
For the last 5 years, I have been working on projects to improve student life at MEPhI. I think it is very important to do things for others; therefore, I believe a well-rounded student should feel like an active part of the university, able to help in the development of others, as well as his or her own development.
I also had an internship at a local consulting firm and worked at Rosatom headquarters, in their project office for internal communication and improving engagement.
After graduation, I see myself as a person who is able to learn anything, ready to develop myself in any area of life. You realise after graduation that you have just started the life-long endeavour of learning.
What did I learn at MEPhI? Accomplish the desired result and don’t complain.
Moreover, MEPhI gives you the truest of friends with whom you don’t just attend class but also work together on projects, work on weekends, and have fun together.
