Arriving in Russia

For international students, Russian universities offer programmes ranging from 1 to 5 years, so it is very important to prepare all documents that allow you to officially reside in Russia. Russian migration laws establish requirements for the legal stay of foreign citizens in Russia. First of all, you need to complete a migration card and be registered. For this, you need to contact the international student Affairs Department of your university immediately upon arriving in Russia. Most foreigners need a passport and student visa to enter Russia. The visa will subsequently need to be extended at a local office of the General Administration for Migration Issues of the Interior Ministry of Russia.
