Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems is a center for science and education in information technology, information security and information protection, radio engineering, electronics and communication and control systems. The main advantages of the institute are the use of individual educational paths, project-based learning, and opportunities for online learning.
The number of students at the institute is more than 3,200, of which more than 200 are international students. The number of employees is more than 300, including 14 academicians of various scientific academies, 27 doctors of sciences and 127 candidates of sciences.

Graduate School of Economics and Management

The Graduate School of Economics and Management of Ural Federal University is one of the largest institutes of UrFU, established in 2019 as a result of the merger of the Graduate School of Economics and Management and the Institute of Public Administration and Entrepreneurship. The Institute provides fundamental education in economics, management, public administration, law, business informatics, public relations and advertising, combined with in-demand practical skills. Currently, GSEM UrFU has 5,500+ students, including 350 international students from more than 40 countries of the world.

GSEM UrFU is a recognized scientific and educational center offering 16 undergraduate and specialist degree programs, 26 master's degree programs, and postgraduate programs.   • The bachelor's degree program "World economy and international management" is internationally accredited by EPAS EFMD, which confirms that the bachelor's degree level meets the standards of the European Foundation for Management Development. About 1% of business schools in the world and only 2 educational programs in Russia have such a high rating.

  • The master's program in international management is accredited by the Association of chartered certified accountants (ACCA), which allows graduates to get credit for several ACCA exams required to join the Association.

Institute of Chemical Engineering

The Institute of Chemical Engineering is a center of research and education in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and petrochemical industries. The undergraduate education areas of the Institute are "Energy and Resource Saving in Chemical Technology", "Biotechnology", "Chemical Technology".

The fundamental theoretical base and the practical skills acquired allow the students to work successfully at the leading pharmaceutical and chemical enterprises.

Students have the opportunity to study in modern equipped laboratories, including a research and innovation center for chemical-pharmaceutical technology.

During the master's program, students study chemistry and biotechnology in depth.

Students can participate in unique developments of new antibiotics, obtaining biologically active substances and vitamin preparations, which are conducted by scientists of the institute.

The Institute has developed and successfully implements an English-language master's program in food biotechnology, "Food Biotechnology," one of the most popular among international students.

Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture

The Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Ural Federal University is the center of construction engineering education. The most famous graduate of the institute is the first President of the Russian Federation Boris Yeltsin.

The institute offers programs of all levels of education in the field of construction and architecture.

The educational process involves project-based learning, modular program structure, and active use of modern electronic resources, Internet courses, and remote learning in some educational paths. Institute of Fundamental Education

The Institute of Fundamental Education is a new type of institute created to improve the quality of fundamental training of students. The Institute's focus areas are engineering, mathematics, linguistics, and information technology. Among the departments of the institute are: "Information Systems and Technologies" and "Intellectual Information Technologies", departments of physics, general chemistry, engineering graphics, construction and theoretical mechanics, department of protection in emergency situations, life safety department.

High-quality training and relevant areas of study make the graduates of the Institute highly sought-after specialists in the labor market in various fields: in research and educational institutions, industry, financial and business structures, in the state and municipal administration.

The Institute actively cooperates with foreign scientific and educational organizations in the field of student exchanges and joint research. Among the partners of the Institute are Grenoble University, Munich University of Technology, Dresden Technical University, German Institute for Educational Research, I. Kepler University. As part of the linguistics program the Institute works actively with the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD. DAAD lecturers who are native German speakers teach at the Institute. This allows students to receive unique language practice, as well as to prepare for participation in scholarship programs.

Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics

The Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics trains specialists in natural and computer sciences, mathematics and mechanics. The institute has a unique for the Urals region area of training - "Geodesy and Remote Sensing". The Department of Roshydromet [Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring] in the Urals Federal District also offers a degree in Hydrometeorology.

The Institute also offers unique educational programs in the Urals and neighboring regions in two areas of fundamental medicine - medical biophysics and medical biochemistry.

The engineering fields emerged at the institute as a result of the development of the idea of fundamental education with a focus on applied areas. Graduates of the Institute's engineering programs are in 100% demand among employers. The objects of future professional activity of the Institute's engineering graduates are information systems and IT: methods and techniques of their design and debugging, operation, mathematical, software, information support, as well as production and operation of hardware and software of information systems in cartography and geodesy.

There are sixteen graduate programs at the Institute, including astrophysics, physics, innovation, biology, nanotechnology, metrology, chemistry, ecology, environmental management, and others. There is also a network master's degree program in biology, which involves student exchanges with other universities in the Russian Federation. The network master's program is successfully implemented in cooperation with the Siberian Federal University, there are agreements with the Northern Arctic Federal University, as well as the Southern Federal University and the Crimean Federal University. In addition, there is a two-degree master's program in Ecology and Environmental Management with the New Economic University in Kazakhstan.

The dual-degree programs are offered at the Institute to graduate physicists. Among the partners of the Institute are the Paul Verlaine University - Metz and the University of Nice - Sophia Antipolis in France.

The Institute has laboratories headed by foreign scientists from Europe. There are also foreign specialists among the staff of the laboratories. The Center of Fundamental Biotechnology and Bioengineering is currently in the process of creation; its scientific director will be Kazimir Strazhalka, a world-class scientist.

Institute of New Materials and Technologies

Institute of New Materials and Technologies is one of the largest engineering and educational centers in the Urals, where fundamental training is combined with an interdisciplinary and practical approach to learning. The competencies of the graduates include both the creation of the latest unique materials and the management of industrial large enterprises.

The Institute includes the School of Basic Engineering Education, the Engineering School of New Industry, and the Center for Informatization. It also includes the Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy and Metal Science, and Building Materials Science. The Institute has 21 departments and 9 basic departments.

The Institute maintains and develops international relations. About 600 out of 5,000 students of the Institute are citizens of foreign countries. The international academic council of the university has scientists from Israel, Hungary and other European countries among its members. In addition, students have the opportunity to attend lectures by foreign experts both during their visits to the university and remotely using IT solutions. Institute of Open Educational Technologies

The Institute of Open Educational Technology is a new-generation institute that focuses on distance learning. The Institute offers quality education to students who are not able to study in full-time format and attend classes on campus. The Institute offers full-time and part-time bachelor's degree programs in 12 areas of study. The programs include such fields as construction, information technology, human resource management, thermal power engineering, state and municipal management and others.

The Institute offers a distance master's program in Human Resources Management.

With e-learning technology, lectures and seminars by leading professors and practitioners are available to students around the world. Distance learning also makes it possible to combine study with work and even to master several curricula simultaneously. Institute of Physical Education, Sport and Youth Policy

Students and researchers of the Institute study current problems of youth policy, sports activities, tourism. There are many outstanding athletes among the graduates of the institute - Olympic champions Sergey Chepikov, Anton Shipulin and Pavel Datsyuk, world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling Heydar Mamedaliev and others.

The Institute is constantly evolving and recently recently opened its first English-language master's program, High-Performance Sport.


Institute of Physics and Technology

The Institute of Physics and Technology is an advanced educational and scientific center that provides training and research in materials science, nuclear, information and biomedical technologies. Scientific and educational activities at the Institute are divided into three groups: physical and technical disciplines, physical and chemical disciplines and socio-humanities.

The scientific priorities of the Institute are nuclear and radiation physics, instrumentation, nanotechnology. Students and scientists of the institute carry out their scientific work in 80 laboratories with modern equipment - cyclotrons, gas pedals, and the smallest precision instruments.

The Institute has a high potential in research activities. During 2019, the scientific-pedagogical staff and students of the Institute published about 500 articles in journals indexed in Web of Science.

Out of the Institute's more than 1,800 students, 109 are international students. Among 91 PhD students, nine are international students.

The Institute trains specialists in unique areas in the nuclear industry, radiochemistry, innovation and intellectual property, rare metals, electrophysics, experimental and technical physics, and applied mathematics. Graduates of the institute work for such major enterprises as Roscosmos, Rosatom and Gazprom.


Ural Institute of Humanities

All the departments of the Ural Institute of Humanities have a socio-humanitarian focus. The Institute graduates professional psychologists, journalists, historians, philologists, and art historians. The Institute includes departments of philology, linguistics, philosophy, psychology, international relations, sociology and political science. In addition, the Institute includes the Institute of retraining and advanced training, the Interregional Institute of Social Sciences, as well as the Research Institute of Russian Culture. The Confucius Institute, which is also part of the Institute, studies the Chinese language and culture.

The Institute has a large network of research laboratories. Ural Power Engineering Institute

Ural Power Engineering Institute provides innovative development of strategically important branch of economy - power engineering.

The mission of the Institute is to train highly qualified personnel, as well as to develop scientific, educational and innovative solutions for this sector. The Institute researches the most topical problems of fuel, renewable and nuclear energy, energy saving, energy engineering, and economics in the energy sector.

The Institute has more than 2,000 students. There are 53 professors and doctors of sciences among the faculty. About a third of the faculty are industry professionals: heads of departments and services of power enterprises, chief designers.

The institute's teaching and research resources provide many opportunities for real-world practice: the infrastructure includes, for example, simulators for simulating normal and emergency modes of power systems. The institute has 11 laboratories and more than 50 training simulators.

The Institute is home to scientific and educational institutions from various countries within the framework of the SCO Network University in the field of energy. Students from China and other SCO countries come to UrFU to study during this project.
