Summer internship for international students of NUST MISIS

By tradition, in the summer students are guided by educational, industrial and research practice in large companies and organizations, according to the profile of training. More than 80% of foreign students of the Research Technological University (NITU) "MISiS" continue field work practice on the basis of 142 large industrial enterprises of the CIS countries and far abroad.

Foreign students from the CIS countries have an internship at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant, at the Kazakhprom company, at the enterprises of the Kazakhmys Group, etc.

The guys try themselves in the role of specialists in their future professions, increase the level of knowledge, skills and abilities, immerse themselves in a real production environment, improve their soft and hard skills.

The areas of training most in demand among employers are materials science, mining specialties, electrical engineering and metal processing.

“Separate practice and internship organizations facilitate work with students in search positions, which they occupy until they achieve their leadership goals and acquire the required professional skills. Foreign students have work experience in large companies in the manufacturing sector of the Russian Federation, as well as in foreign enterprises, such as the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant, the Tajik Aluminum Company, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant, Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, etc. 

During the internship, students gain work experience, professional qualifications, as a result of which they receive positive feedback from employers, which they develop for development, successful mastering of the profession and employment,” said Elena Shaforostova, Head of the Department for Organizing Practices and Internships, Director of the NUST MISIS Career Center.

Also this academic year, as part of the implementation of the initiative with the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant, foreign students were assigned to work practice, involved in metal processing tests by NUST MISIS.

According to monitoring the quality of admissions, NUST MISIS today ranks 4th among technical universities in terms of demand among graduates. The educational program of the university includes scientific research and the search for solutions to production problems, and the choice of a place depends on the individual trajectory of the student's learning. This approach improves the quality of training of specialists in demand in the labor market.
