National Research University – Higher School of Economics
I believe that studying in Russia is one of the best choices a student can make
For Vietnamese students, studying abroad in Western countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Australia is a hot trend now. But I believe that studying in Russia is one of the best choices a student can make, especially at a prestigious university like Higher School of Economics (HSE). Let me tell you why you should study at HSE.
Firstly, the quality of education. Higher School of Economics is a young and ambitious university, founded just 25 years ago, but now it is an influential research university in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Many subject areas of HSE are highly appreciated by the quality of training and research, such as Economics, Business, Management, Mathematics, Computer Science, Politics, Sociology, Arts & Humanities.
Secondly, internship opportunities. To promote abilities and gain more experiences, every student needs some practical opportunities. HSE helps me answer these questions. With the aim to help students be successful in the careers, the university through its Career Development Centre organizes internships and arranges career fairs twice every year, that provides presentations, seminars, master classes, workshops, vacancy information of its 800 partner companies.
Thirdly, ten comfortable and well-equipped dormitories. I live in dormitory number 4 located near Studencheckaya metro station. I share a room with another guy. The dorm is very comfortable and well-equipped with shared kitchens, gyms, studying rooms and laundromats. In the room we have writing desks, chairs, closets, bookshelves, beds, nightstands and a fridge. The cost of accommodation is affordable; I pay around 1400 rubles per month, which is inexpensive by any standards.
Fourthly, kindness of people. Having studied with Russian students for years, I must say that most of them are very polite, friendly and patient. Beside this, all of professors and lecturers are leading Russian scholars. They are very kind and understanding. They are always willing to answer questions, help any student in need to do research and share their opinions and life experiences with students, which in turn help them reach their goals.
Fifthly, opportunity to make a lot of friends. Here I met interesting people from different countries. They help me understand more about the subject of the lectures, which improves my knowledge of the Russian language. Often, we discuss some interesting topics related to international affairs or just go to some places to have fun after class.
We cook and share our traditional foods, tell some interesting stories, help each other study, have discussions or just play ping pong together. I learn more about the different cultures, traditions of other countries and also introduce the beauty of my native country, Vietnam to all them.
