The country is huge and each city has its own cultural peculiarities

My name is Tao Mengting and I am from China. I have finished my Bachelor with specialization in Philology and Master Degree with specialization in Linguistics. This year I have graduated from a PhD program in Culture Studies.

I have got to know about UrFU from my acquaintance who studied here about 10 years ago. Studying a PhD is undoubtedly harder than studying a Bachelor or Master program. My research supervisor is really strong in Culture Studies.

Honestly, at first I did not like the city because when I first got here it was really cold, and I did not know the language but fortunately at my first day I met a truly kind citizen who helped me to find a way to the University building.

I have participated at least two or three times in International conferences, forums and seminars. During my almost ten years stay in here I have also visited Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Kazan and I have realized that the country is huge and each city has its own cultural peculiarities. The deepest impression I had was from visiting The State Tretyakov Gallery. I really enjoyed that place and I am certain I need to visit it again in the nearest future. I am very interested in learning about cultures and I would probably seek for continuing my research in this field.

I have thought a lot about my future, I think it would be good to come back home to China, but if I have an opportunity to stay here in Russia then I would also consider that option.
