Learning a new language is great for personal experience and for professional life

I’m Pierre. I’m 24. I’m from France. I’m currently studying in Russia at the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad.

Studying in Russia means learning a new language and a new culture, it’s also an opportunity to see things differently. Learning a new language is great not only for personal experience but also for professional life. I have been studying Russian for 10 months, it is quite difficult but in this university we have great teachers and atmosphere in our class is really great as well, which makes studying easier. In my free time here in Kaliningrad I also have an opportunity to teach French to students of our university. I teach French in the French club every Monday and it is a unique experience for students as well as for me.

In Kaliningrad, which is situated in the Russian enclave at the Baltic sea, you can find different cultures and meet people from all over the world. In this city the cost of life is quite reasonable, and the architecture is fascinating as it’s a perfect combination of Soviet buildings, German architecture and modern Russian buildings. I really like going to the Victory Square (Ploshad Pobedy) which is situated in the citycentre as the atmosphere there is quite unique.

Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University offers a wide variety of educational programs which you can choose from after finishing the preparatory course. I want to continue my studies and proceed to doing Master’s degree at this university in Business Informatics. I want to study in this city after completing the preparatory course because when I got here I made a lot of new friends.

Besides, Kaliningrad is a really great place to stay. When I got here I had a chance to live in the dormitory. It’s really close from the campus which is really convenient. And in the dormitory you can also meet a lot of people who will help you to learn Russian.

In Kaliningrad people are nice and friendly and they always try to help you. When I got here I was amazed by all the help I could get. And I always had someone to help me with any problems that I encountered. This is also why you should consider studying at this university – you can always rely on someone to help you, you will not be left on your own.
