Of course, I felt homesick but my training was worth staying away from my family
After completing my undergraduate and graduate studies in archaeology in my country, I began to look for opportunities to continue my education abroad to gain an interesting experience and explore other culture. I chose Russia which I had wanted to visit since my childhood. Mongolia and Russia are great friends; they have lots of joint projects, including in education. My country helped me enrol at South Ural State University to continue my training in archaeology.
I liked study in Russia. I believe the Russians are much like the Mongolians, being as kind and good. I found my university studies fascinating. Archaeology is a very interesting science. SUSU has world famous archaeology teachers. Taking instruction from them is an invaluable experience. Of course, I felt homesick but my education was worth staying away from my family. I plan to return to my home country and pursue research in archaeology at the Institute of History and Archaeology, Mongolian National Academy of Sciences. Hopefully, I will be able to cooperate with SUSU in joint research projects in the future.
This is what I’d tell prospective students: “come to Russia quicker!” SUSU is a remarkable university in an amazing country. Of course, studying a long way from one’s family is not easy. But you will surely like it here. SUSU helps tap your potential, broaden your outlook and gain an invaluable experience in interacting with people from different countries.
