Le Ngoc Quan, Vietnam
Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University
The professors here always help me in studying and adapting to life
My name is Quan, I am from Vietnam. I am currently doing my Bachelor degree in Tourism at the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University. Before that I have completed preparatory course at the IKBFU.
It has been more than a year since I started studying at IKBFU, I still cannot forget the feeling of coming here for the first time. It was a completely different scene from the place where I enjoyed my breakfast 11 hours ago. In Kaliningrad I noticed western style architecture. The buildings are not high but have a nice design, the houses are not adjacent to each other like in Hanoi. I remember the days when I was preparing my application for studying in Russia: one of the main reasons why Kaliningrad caught my attention is because it is the city with interesting history and its climate is warmer than in other regions of Russia.
The initial period was difficult for me because I had to get used to the slow pace of life here. The shops usually open late and close early, and I have to speak Russian everywhere I go. That’s exactly what I imagined when I was in Vietnam. This place is so beautiful, I really like the architecture and the atmosphere here. One of my favorite places in Kaliningrad region is the town of Zelenogradsk. It is quite lively there because it is a popular resort town and one of the main tourist attractions of the Kaliningrad region.
The university where I study is rather famous, it is one of the 10 federal universities in Russia. I really like how people work here, because I get answers and help every time I have a problem. The study facilities at the university fully meet my learning needs, the dormitory is clean and beautiful. The professors here always help me in studying and adapting to life, especially the preparatory course teachers - they make us feel very welcome here.
I am going to study 4 more years in Russia, until I finish my Bachelor’s degree. It's also a bit inconvenient now that we have classes online, but I hope that after the pandemic I will be able to travel to many places and discover new things, because after graduation I plan to return to Vietnam. So I hope to take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about Russia as well as the Russian people.
