How to extend a student visa

To extend a student visa, an international student has to seek help from personnel of the university they are studying at. As a rule, universities have special units that deal visa and migration issues. Visa extension documents have to be submitted not later than 45 days (20 to 30 days at some universities) before your current visa expiration date. Document requirements: passport and its copy, a copy of migration card and registration, state duty payment receipt and photos. You might also have to submit a copy of the study contract (for self-funded students) or the recommendation by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (for scholarship students), an extract of the order for admission and a filled out application. It is a reference list of required documents; contact the university to get the precise list. The university checks the package of documents and passes it to the local police department for migration issues. Find more student visa information in a website section.
